RESIDENTIAL SERVICE
RESIDENTIAL ASPHALT PAVING
Smooth, deep-black driveways that transform the front of your home.
THE SERVICE.
A new asphalt driveway is one of the highest-impact improvements you can make to a North Carolina home — and one of the most sensitive to poor workmanship. Rought Asphalt & Paving builds residential driveways the same way we build commercial pavement: proper excavation, a compacted stone base, and full-depth asphalt installed and rolled correctly.
We start with a site visit to evaluate your existing driveway, drainage, and access. Grading is set so water sheets off the pavement instead of pooling on it, edges are finished cleanly against your lawn, and the asphalt is compacted with the right equipment for a smooth, dense surface.
The result is a deep-black, smooth driveway that instantly upgrades curb appeal — and holds up to cars, deliveries, and Carolina summers.

WHY PROPERTY OWNERS CHOOSE ROUGHT.
A base that outlasts the surface
Most driveway failures start underneath. We install and compact a proper stone base so your driveway stays smooth for years, not seasons.
Drainage done right
We grade every driveway to move water away from the pavement and your foundation — no puddles, no washouts, no ice patches in winter.
Clean edges and transitions
Driveway edges are finished neatly against existing surfaces and landscaping, with proper transitions to garage floors and roads.
Straightforward estimates
You get a clear, written scope — square footage, base depth, asphalt thickness — so you know exactly what you're paying for.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.
How long does a new asphalt driveway take to install?+
Most residential driveways are completed in a single day. Larger or regraded driveways may take two days including base work.
When can I park on my new driveway?+
Keep vehicles off for 2–3 days in warm weather. Asphalt continues to harden for weeks — avoid parking in the exact same spot or turning sharp turns while stationary during the first couple of weeks.
Why does new asphalt look different in spots?+
Fresh asphalt varies in texture and sheen until it fully cures. This is normal and evens out with time and use.
Is asphalt better than concrete for a driveway?+
Asphalt typically costs less to install, handles freeze-thaw well, and can be resurfaced and sealcoated to extend its life — making it a practical choice for North Carolina driveways.
